We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Broking Manager to lead the new business sales function. This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for managing a team of insurance brokers focused on the conversion of qualified commercial leads into long-term portfolio clients. Your remit will span sales leadership, performance optimisation, operational oversight, and the development of market relationships with insurers, referral partners, and internal stakeholders. You will play a central role in driving commercial results, ensuring technical integrity, and embedding a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a team of commercial brokers to ensure high-quality client outcomes and consistent conversion of qualified new business opportunities. Oversee the end-to-end sales and onboarding process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant placement of insurance programs. Design and implement performance frameworks, ensuring that KPIs, service standards, and revenue targets are understood and achieved. Collaborate with executive leadership, marketing, referral partners, and digital teams to refine pipeline management and lead generation strategies. Build and maintain robust working relationships with key underwriters and agency partners to ensure market competitiveness and placement options across diverse commercial risks. Provide technical oversight and ensure that broking advice and service delivery meet regulatory and organisational compliance standards. Contribute to strategic planning and play a hands-on role in broader business improvement projects, technology adoption, and operational refinement. What You'll Bring Minimum 5 years’ experience in the general insurance sector, including at least 3 years in a commercial broking role . Leadership or team management experience is strongly preferred. Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification (mandatory). Strong technical understanding of general insurance products, legislation (including NCCP, AFSL requirements), and claims frameworks. Demonstrated ability to drive broker team performance, convert complex opportunities, and deliver consistent commercial outcomes. Skilled in negotiating placement terms, building insurer relationships, and navigating the evolving insurer-agency landscape. Experience working within structured, digitally-enabled broking environments is highly advantageous. A high level of integrity, initiative, and the ability to influence across all levels of business.
